These are just some of the resources we shared in our last meeting:

  • Nicole Kardine from Rooted Therapy WC shared her insights from her practice in integrative and holistic mental health therapy, which she offers both in person in West Chester, PA, and virtually across Pennsylvania. You can follow her on Instagram here or visit her website here.

  • EMDR Therapy: EMDR was once again brought to the table as a topic of interest. Nicole Kardine has professional experience with this technique, and some members shared their positive experiences as patients who have found it to be transformative.

  • Experience with the Mirena IUD: One of our members shared her personal experience with the Mirena IUD. While every individual’s experience can vary, this method of birth control does come with potential side effects and considerations, including possible hormonal reactions and concerns about toxicity. It's also important to consult with a healthcare provider regarding alcohol consumption while using the Mirena coil.

  • Gynecologist Recommendation: Following this discussion, a member recommended Dr. Karen Tang, MD, MPH, a board-certified gynecologist and minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon. Dr. Tang is an internationally recognized leader in reproductive health. You can learn more about her practice at Thrive GYN and consider her book, It’s Not Hysteria.

Book Recommendations:

  • The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk. Find it here.
  • The Meaning of Truth by Nicole Sachs. Find it here (The Group has two copies of the book donated by Scarlett—if you would like to borrow it, please let me know).
  • It’s Not Hysteria by Karen Tang. Find it here.
  • Mother Hunger by Kelly McDaniel. Find it here.

Next Meeting:

Meeting Structure (Flexible):

  • Breathing Exercise, Movement, and Intention Setting
  • Introductions
  • Expert Talks or Community Talks or Check-ins
  • Reflection: Reflect on two things we learned or how we felt during our gathering.

Meeting Guidelines:

  • We may sit on yoga mats during the meeting. If you require a chair, kindly inform me at [email protected].
  • Please remember to remove your shoes upon arrival.
  • As an environmentally conscious group, please bring your own mug and use cotton towels when washing hands instead of paper towels. (I take them home, wash them in hot water, and bring them back to the studio myself; they are perfectly clean.)
  • Don’t forget to bring your favorite tea for a cozy experience.
  • The meeting will begin promptly and must wrap up by 12:15 pm.
  • For those interested in continuing conversations, we can reconvene at a nearby coffee shop.
